Common names: Purple crape myrtle

The Lagerstroemia Catawba Crape Myrtle is a rare find with with true, dark purple, often near-neon, flowers. Showy extra-large flower clusters almost cover the rich-green foliage from early summer through early fall. In spring, emerging leaves of the Catawba crape myrtle are an attention-getting bronze color. Fall color of orange-red is just as spectacular.  Excellent cold hardiness for central and southern Texas. Our purple crape myrtles grow very quickly and in a moderate size making it perfect for a hedge for backyard privacy in the summer and fall.

For rural properties, the crape myrtle is deer resistant.
