Meet Terra Sombra Farms

Howdy, y’all! I am Wanda, a lifelong nature-lover and tree addict. My husband and I bought a wonderful little farm in Columbus, TX, complete with old growth oak dripping with Spanish moss. When I care for our little tree liners, I see what they will become: beautiful shade-givers offering native Texas habitat for wildlife even in urban settings.

In fact, Terra Sombra means Land of Shade. Here at the tree liner farm, I am the head shadecropper and my irrigation engineer and general support is my husband, Frank.

Why Texas Native Shade Trees

We grow only natives because our goal is to be a part of reversing the damage done to biodiversity by planting non-native trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses. In between planting, pruning, and pampering our tree liners, I will be sharing more about the passion to educate the public about how wonderful Texas natives are, how much easier they are to keep healthy and thriving, and how they support our biodiversity rather than altering it.

Come for a Visit

We are located about 45 minutes from west Houston. The farm is east of Columbus, TX, where the rolling hills of the Hill Country begin. The drive is relaxing as you turn away from the freeway and enter the unique Loblolly Pine forest mixed with burr oaks, live oaks, cathedral oaks, and post oaks that stretches from Columbus to Bastrop. It is the only piney woods of its kind in Texas outside East Texas.

Call to schedule a visit to learn about our farm and our custom growing contracts for nurseries, landscapers, and other wholesale tree growing companies. If you have the time, we will enjoy a glass of iced tea so you can share more about your business and yourself.
